About IBL
IBL is a social reading initiative within Booklet designed to bring playfulness back to reading in a world full of distractions. Using the format and spirit of cricket, IBL guides participants through 22 books in 22 days. IBL is a community-driven, not-for-profit initiative, and participation involves a one-time contribution of ₹600 to help cover server and operating costs.
This policy explains what information we collect specifically for the IBL feature, how we use it, and your choices. It supplements and does not replace the main booklet privacy policy, which governs the app as a whole.
Information We Collect
When you opt in to IBL, we may collect:
- Reading activity: books started, completed, or in progress as part of your 22-day challenge; reading pace and streaks
- IBL engagement data: challenge participation status, “match” progress (books read mapped to the cricket-style format), leaderboard position if you choose to participate publicly
- Audio usage: if you listen to audiobook versions of IBL titles, we collect playback and completion data
- App navigation: how you move through IBL-related screens, to help us improve the experience
- Contribution/payment status: confirmation that your ₹600 contribution was completed and the transaction reference. We do not collect or store your card, UPI, or bank details; our payment processor handles these directly.
All reading, engagement, audio, and navigation data collected for IBL is anonymised and is not used to identify you personally or to track you across other apps or websites.
How We Use This Information
We use IBL data to:
- Track your progress through the 22-books-in-22-days challenge
- Generate leaderboards or community stats (only if you choose to participate publicly)
- Understand which books, formats, and pacing work best for readers, so we can improve IBL
- Cover and account for server costs funded by contributions
- Communicate updates about your IBL challenge (e.g., progress reminders)
We do not sell IBL data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Your Contribution (₹600)
The ₹600 contribution supports server costs for running IBL as a community initiative. Payments are processed through a third-party payment gateway; we only receive confirmation of a successful transaction and a reference ID, not your payment credentials. Refund and cancellation terms, if any, are described at the point of payment.
Data Sharing
We do not share your IBL data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. Data may be shared with:
- Our payment processor, solely to complete your contribution
- Service providers who help us host and operate IBL (e.g., server infrastructure), bound by confidentiality obligations
Data Retention
We retain IBL activity data for as long as your account is active or as needed to support the challenge and community features. You can request deletion of your IBL data at any time (see below).
Your Choices
- You can opt in or out of IBL data collection anytime from Settings
- You can choose whether your leaderboard participation is public or private
- You can request that we delete your IBL activity data by contacting us
Children’s Privacy
IBL is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your region). We do not knowingly collect IBL data from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as IBL evolves. Material changes will be communicated in-app before they take effect.
