This Privacy Policy is issued by Booklet Guy’s Reading Culture Foundation (“Booklet”, “we”, “us” or “our”) and applies to the Booklet application and related services, including the Indian Book League (IBL) (together, the “Application”). It explains the personal data we process, why we process it and your rights.
By using the Application, you acknowledge this Policy. Where consent is required, we obtain it through a clear affirmative action for a stated purpose and only for the personal data necessary for that purpose. You may withdraw consent by contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect prior processing but may limit related features.
Information We Collect
We may collect the following categories of information:
- Account, contact and order information: name, email address, mobile number, profile and delivery details, and information provided through sign-in, support or feedback.
- Reading and service activity: books and audio used, reading or listening progress, completion, saved content and other interactions with the Application.
- IBL participation information: registration, organisation or team details, participation in matches and activities, results, scores and rankings.
- Device and technical information: device and application information, IP address, network information, diagnostics and general usage information.
- Transaction information: the status of a purchase or contribution and related reference records. Payment providers process the payment information needed to complete a transaction.
How We Use Information
We may use information to:
- provide, maintain and personalise the Application and its content
- manage accounts, content access, progress, purchases, entitlements and IBL features
- process and confirm transactions and fulfil orders
- provide support and send service communications; send promotional communications only where you have chosen to receive them
- protect users and the Application, prevent misuse or fraud, troubleshoot problems and enforce our terms
- understand product usage, perform analytics and improve our services
- comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests
How We Share Information
We may share only necessary personal data with service providers supporting hosting, analytics, communications, payments, fulfilment and customer support; with affiliates or partners needed to provide a service you request; when required by law or to protect rights, safety or the Application; or during a merger, acquisition, reorganisation or business transfer. Service providers must protect personal data and process it only for agreed purposes.
IBL profile, team and competition information may be visible to other participants or, where enabled, publicly through leaderboards, sharing and other community features. The Application may contain links to third-party sites or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and we are not responsible for their content or practices.
Data Retention and Security
We retain personal data only while needed for the purposes described in this Policy, security, disputes or legal obligations. We erase it when consent is withdrawn or its purpose is no longer served, unless retention is required by law or for legal claims.
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect personal data. If a personal data breach occurs, we will notify affected users and the relevant authorities as required by law.
Your Choices and Rights
You may decline to provide personal data, although related features may then be unavailable. Subject to applicable law, you may request a summary of the personal data we process and how it has been used or shared; correct, complete or update it; request erasure; withdraw consent; nominate another individual to act in the event of your death or incapacity; and raise a grievance.
Submit a request through the same in-app consent control or email bookletguy@gmail.com with the subject “Privacy Request” and the email address or mobile number linked to your account. We may verify your identity and will respond to grievances within 90 days. If unsatisfied after our grievance process, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India. This notice and rights assistance are available on request in English or any language in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution of India.
Children’s Privacy
Before processing the personal data of a user under 18, we obtain verifiable consent from a parent or lawful guardian and verify the adult’s identity as required by law. We do not track or behaviourally monitor children or direct targeted advertising at them, except where permitted by law. A parent or guardian may exercise the child’s rights through the process above.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version in the Application or on the relevant policy page and communicate material changes as appropriate. Where a change requires fresh consent, we will request it before the relevant processing.
